Taylor wasn’t at the People’s Choice Awards, but she did win the Favourite Country Artist award! Congratualations to Taylor.
The People’s Choice Awards last night (Jan. 11) in Los Angeles crowned Taylor Swift country music’s leading lady for the second consecutive year! The ‘Ours’ singer, who did not attend the ceremony, nevertheless won the trophy for Favorite Country Artist, beating out Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts to take the honor.
Taylor, whose first People’s Choice honor was the 2010 award for Favorite Female Artist, scored three nominations in 2011. The 22-year-old was also nominated for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Tour Headliner, with Katy Perry winning the award in both categories.
Blake was also nominated for Favorite Male Artist, with the trophy ultimately going to Bruno Mars. Lady A’s album, ‘Own the Night’ was in the running for Favorite Album, which went to Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’
Faith Hill joined the festivities for the two-hour broadcast. The wife of Tim McGraw performed her current single, ‘Come Home’ during the telecast, earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
Katy Perry was night’s big winner, taking home five of the fan-voted awards. Other big winners included the cast of the Harry Potter movie, ‘The Deathly Hallows: Part 2,’ which won four awards, including one for Favorite Movie Ensemble Cast, Johnny Depp, who won two awards, for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Animated Voice, and Morgan Freeman, who beat out George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks and Robert DeNiro to win the first-ever People’s Choice Award for Movie Icon.
The eyes of country artists are now on the Grammy Awards, which will occur next month. Taylor and Jason are both nominated for three Grammys. Taylor’s nods are for Best Country Album (‘Speak Now’), and Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, for ‘Mean.’
Jason, who is enjoying his first-ever Grammy nods, is a contender for a Grammy for Best Country Album (‘My Kinda Party’), Best Country Solo Performance (‘Dirt Road Anthem’), and Best Country/Duo/Group Performance, for his chart-topping hit, ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ with Kelly Clarkson.
The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center, Feb. 12 at 8:00 PM ET on CBS.
Anticipation for the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games has been steadily building all year, from the casting announcements through the early production photos, from the preview of the preview to the full-length trailer. Now, just in time for Christmas, there’s one more delectable Hunger Games accessory to chew on: In the wee small hours of the morning, teen sensation Taylor Swift announced via Twitter the release of her contribution to the Hunger Games. The song — currently available exclusively through iTunes — is called “Safe and Sound,” and it’s actually a collaboration between Swift, alt-folk duo the Civil Wars, and Games music producer T Bone Burnett.
The song (which you can listen to HERE) is an eerie little ditty, miles away from Swift’s usual romance-balladry. The chorus is composed of lines like “Just close your eyes/the sun is going down/You’ll be all right/no one can hurt you now.” Appropriate for the somber tone of Hunger Games, there’s no sense of triumph in the lyrics or in Swift’s delivery. It sounds more like a funeral dirge than a victory chant, especially as the song continues with light percussion that sounds like soldiers marching to their doom.
As EW’s Dave Karger noted last year, there’s been a severe shortage of popular songs specifically written for film soundtracks. (Just compare the chart performance/cultural halo/actual quality of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” to the song from James Cameron’s other biggest movie ever: Leona Lewis’ aggressively forgettable “I See You.”) I’m intrigued by the tone that Swift and the Civil Wars are striking with this song — it gives me hope that the movie itself will be as tough and heartfelt as the books.
Watch a clip below from Taylor’s upcoming DVD, Journey to Fearless.
Taylor Swift’s journey to the top has been nothing short of epic. With more than 20 million albums sold and countless awards won, including four Grammys and the ACM Entertainer of the Year honors, her whirlwind career that only just began about five years ago is already one for the history books. Perhaps her favorite part of the job is touring, which the 21-year-old superstar has done with record-breaking numbers. After getting her feet wet as an opening act for Brad Paisley, the blond beauty set out on her own headlining trek in 2009 — the Fearless tour, named after her wildly successful sophomore album.
Fans can relive their favorite memories of the elaborate Fearless shows, plus go behind the scenes of the tour, with tomorrow’s (Oct. 11) release of ‘Journey to Fearless,’ a two-hour DVD filled with highlights from the incredible tour. Taylor shares exclusively with The Boot this clip from the DVD, featuring one of her most beloved hits, ‘You Belong With Me.’

Review:
Her fans have been eagerly waiting for her new video for “The Story of Us,” and Taylor Swift has finally given them what they want.
The “Should’ve Said No” songstress premiered her new clip on MTV tonight (May 24) and proved that her long legacy of great videos continues on.
Taylor recently shared her creative process behind writing the tune, and of course it had to do with a boy.
“I was at an awards show, and there was a guy there, obviously — it all starts there, doesn’t it? It was a guy I had been in a relationship with, falling out, then we end up at the same awards show. Both trying to act like we don’t care … both like, you know, chatting up the people next to us.”
“Afterward, I just felt so empty, like we were both fighting this silent war of pretending we didn’t care that the other was there. And I went home, and I wrote this song about it. And at that point, I had this gut feeling, and I knew the album was finished.”
The talk-show host joined Taylor Swift in a humorous yet completely serious message encouraging viewers to donate to the American Red Cross to benefit tornado victims in the South, one of a dozen special videos that aired tonight during Music Builds: CMT’s Disaster Relief Concert.
Sadly, the star-studded benefit comes only a year after a flood ravaged Nashville, prompting another benefit similar to this one.
The silver lining was that country music’s finest teamed up to raised $1.7 million last year. And a bunch of ‘em came back to do it again
Taylor posted a new vlog of her trip to perform in Asia! Enjoy!
